The group is spending $4.1 million on the ad, which begins airing in Ohio and Wisconsin Tuesday, Politico reports.
The ad spotlights Ted and Pat Oparowski, whose son David was diagnosed with cancer in 1979. They knew Romney through their church. ?Mitt used to go visit David in the hospital,? Pat says in the ad. ?He and David developed quite a friendship.?
David asked Romney for his help in writing a will and requested that Romney give the funeral eulogy. ?He gave a beautiful eulogy,? Pat says.
"To spend time with a 14-year-old boy in his last days, you cannot help but know that he's caring," she says. "He cares about people and about their needs. I think he's going to be able to get us back on track. I really do."
Few of the ads produced for Romney by either his campaign or outside groups have included personal testimonials like this one.
