Cryptozoic Entertainment announced the release of Locke and Key: The Game, a brand new game based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez?s Locke and Key.
The card game, based on the critically acclaimed IDW Publishing comic book series about a New England family, their home, and a set of mystical keys, is perfect for a night in with geeky friends who, like myself, will get excited about the massive amount of detail applied. It features loads of cards to give the place the players in specific situations, give the players strength, and even 15 specialized key cards based on the keys of the comic?s Keyhouse.
I can?t express how much I want to play this game. I?m not one for card games for the most part, but based solely on the Locke and Key concept, I absolutely have to. It?s not so much that I have a problem with card games, in general, it?s just that very few have actually piqued my interest while also not being far too complex for an amateur. But like I said, I have to play this game. Locke and Key is easily my favorite comic being published today, and the concept of the series is so enthralling that it makes perfect sense to have some sort of interactive involvement with not only the characters, but the house as well. The mythology behind the story is one that is so rich with potential, that I?ve already wanted to be in the mystic and supernatural realms of Keyhouse, so I guess it?s my duty to give Cryptozoic, Hill, Rodriguez and IDW my thanks for giving me the opportunity. So, thanks to all of the above! I will absolutely be forcing my wife and friends to sit down and play this game with me. Also, I?ll have something to play with Henchman21 and Empress Eve at conventions, as well! OH JOY!
Locke and Key: The Game retails for $30.00 and can be purchased now from hobby and comic book stores nationwide, so head over the the official retailer listing to find a store in your area, order it online (Amazon has it discounted at $25.20). For more information including a look at some of the game cards as well as the complete game rules, head over to Cryptozoic?s official website.
